Back to all

When we launched Football TravelHER, we knew one thing for sure: if we were going to exist in the wild world of women’s sport, we needed to be seen. And not just “your mum liked your Facebook post” seen — we needed to be Instagram–TikTok–Facebook–scroll-stopping–algorithm-approved seen.

So, naturally, we made the Big Decision. The one every modern business eventually faces. The one that says: “Yes, we are real. Yes, you can trust us. Yes, we will hand over our ID like we’re trying to get into a nightclub.”

We went for THE BLUE TICK.

Meta Verified. The digital badge of honour. The tiny blue dot that whispers, “We’re legit, promise.”

And honestly, we were buzzing… for about 24 hours.

Because with verification came the dreaded 3-step authentication. A security feature so dramatic it could have its own Netflix series.

Within a day — ONE DAY — Corinne had managed to lock herself out of the account. Completely. Fully. No return. Only one user could access anything now, and it wasn’t her.

So over to Heather.

And Heather? Oh, she didn’t just take over. She lwent 'GO BIG OR GO HOME'!!

We knew that after our launch, we wanted to connect with women’s sports businesses, football creators, athletes — basically anyone who might one day think, “Hey, Football TravelHER is cool, let’s work with them.”

So she opens Instagram. Takes a deep breath. And casually drops a message to… Billie. Jean. King.

Yes. That Billie Jean King. The icon. The legend. The blueprint of women’s sport.

And then she goes to sleep like she didn’t just shoot her shot at one of the most influential athletes in history.

The next morning?

“Billie Jean King has started following you.”

Sorry, WHAT.

THE Billie Jean King. Following us. On Instagram. Like it’s no big deal.

Safe to say, the number of screenshots sent to friends, family, neighbours, exes, the postman, and anyone who’s ever made eye contact with us… was excessive.

But honestly? Moments like that remind us why we’re doing this. Women’s sport is full of giants — and somehow, one of them noticed our tiny-but-mighty corner of the internet.

And that’s just the beginning.
